OpenAI to merge Chat and Work as neocloud debt fuels AI bubble fears
OpenAI will merge Chat and Work in ChatGPT, with Plus, Pro and Business plans sharing one token budget across ChatGPT and Codex from December. Investors are questioning neocloud finances as CoreWeave carries $35.1bn in debt and its stock has lost a quarter of its value in the past month.
New research found Chinese AI models are less uniformly pro-government than expected, and Google introduced StreamVibe, a video agent that decides when to speak up during tasks.
Study finds Chinese AI models less uniformly pro-government than expected
Vals AI asked Chinese, American and other models hundreds of questions about China, varying language and context. It found Chinese models had a lower pro-government lean than expected, with large differences, while some Western models also adopted official Chinese positions. Responses were more pro-government in Simplified Chinese, and mainland-use prompts shifted some models. Language and usage context shape political responses.
Team led by Google introduces StreamVibe video agent that decides when to speak
A Google-led team introduced StreamVibe, a video agent that watches people doing tasks and decides when to speak up. It is designed for vague requests and changing instructions, where existing video assistants often repeat advice or miss unspoken needs. The team built a benchmark of about 4,100 examples from more than 183 hours of recordings and trained StreamVibe-VL, apparently based on Alibaba's Qwen3.5-9B, to stay quiet or speak each second.
OpenAI to merge Chat and Work under one token budget
OpenAI will merge Chat and Work in ChatGPT, with Plus, Pro and Business plans sharing one token budget across ChatGPT and Codex from December. The company is folding Work's agentic features into the main interface, letting users check balances, wait for resets, upgrade or buy credits. Instant model chats will not count, but heavy use on cheaper plans may produce lower-quality results.
Nace AI released Drex Max v1 as open weights, a 27B decision model that returns option probabilities for typed questions in one forward pass. It ships with bf16 weights, a Q8_0 GGUF, an affine Q4 checkpoint and forks of llama.cpp and Ollama. On a 48 GB Apple M5 Pro, the Q8_0 GGUF matched H100 bf16 within 0.02 per probability, and the affine Q4 stayed within 0.0329 of Q8_0.
DeepSeek's Harness team released dsh-superagent, an MIT-licensed research prototype for a coding agent that works on one GitHub repository. It listens to GitHub and, optionally, Feishu, then turns allowed requests into parallel work items, each running in its own agent session. The design uses a long-running Router to dispatch work to isolated Worker sessions, aiming to minimize human attention.
As third quarter earnings season is underway, some companies are putting numbers on AI benefits. Santander said AI initiatives generated 194 million euros, or $216 million, in business value in the first nine months of 2026. Novartis reported third quarter core operating income of $6.04 billion, up 10% at constant currencies, and its chief executive said AI is starting to improve the profit and loss statement.
Neocloud debt and stock losses fuel AI bubble fears
Investors are questioning the finances of neocloud firms such as CoreWeave and Nebius, which lease data centres to major AI developers. CoreWeave has $35.1bn in debt, and its stock has lost a quarter of its value in the past month, with similar or larger losses at Nebius, IREN and Applied Digital. Gartner predicts 80% of neocloud firms will cease independent operations by 2030, while Forrester expects at least three to be acquired.
