The story so far

On Sunday, Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell was carted off on a stretcher after a fourth-quarter tackle against Minnesota at Ford Field. The 2025 first-team All-Pro had signed a four-year, $81 million deal in May and lay on the turf for more than 10 minutes. Players from both teams took a knee, and the Lions had already lost Brian Branch, DJ Wonnum and DJ Reed to injuries. Minnesota scored a touchdown and two-point conversion after the stop to lead 15-12 with 8:44 remaining.

The Lions won 19-15, but Campbell's injury dominated the game. Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell said everyone was thinking and praying for him, and defensive end Aidan Hutchinson said Campbell would have wanted to stay and help secure the victory. Head coach Dan Campbell had not offered an encouraging update after the game.

The Lions also saw Cade Mays, D.J. Reed, Jimmy Rolder and Jacob Saylors hurt. Detroit then beat Miami 19-9 for a fourth straight win, with Jahmyr Gibbs scoring a rushing touchdown and Jared Goff throwing for 170 yards. The team wore No. 46 jerseys to honor Campbell, who was placed on injured reserve.
